Art online

With astonishment I realize how huge an impact the web has on the art scene. I sometimes consider exhibiting my art work on the street, but find it challenging to get the audience as easily as on the internet. Besides having to figure the perfect spot. It’s astonishing what artists can do today: share their creations with thousands of viewers in no time. That’s impressive. Of course, to draw attention they need to spread their work through Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and whatever is popular. That art is easier discovered in the web is probably due to the nature of...

UnSunk FUNK photo shoot

November 2010. I am staying at the UnSunk FUNK gallery of Genevieve in Bunbury, WA. After delivering a hug sent by a funny busker we met on the streets of Perth, we are invited to stay as long as we wish. As we like helping out, we figure that Genevieve urgently needs a photo shoot for her newest vintage dresses and done, so she could put them on-line in her UnSunk Funk shop. Additionally, she dreams of having a couple of photos revealing the inside treasures of her gallery shop. Just a couple of months ago I had accomplished the task of a wellness photo shoot at Monte Vista...

Colombia inspires

Colombia, 2007. On the fascinating island of Baru in the North of Colombia I enjoy the beauty of all that is. Life can be so easy, so precious, so special if you just stop doing and start being. Right on the beach I discover several funny things, among which are two empty coconuts, an empty beer bottle, an ice cream stick, an old bottle lid, a dried apple peel, a coral, a piece of wood, and some dried grass fiber. The beach seems to have it all, and like a child I begin to play with my findings. First of all, I love a comparison of the natural, nourishing coconut water with...

Feeling the Wellness

Thailand, September 2010. Staying at Monte Vista Retreat Center, a place for cleansing body and mind, involves different voluntary activities. Among others Augustas and me are asked to revise the center’s new website. While looking through the photo material available I figure little material to add like inspirational content to the website. Photos needed for representing treatments and services offered are near to missing completely. It doesn’t go long until myself and the manager decide to have our own photo shooting, since we have got a reasonably good camera...

Legs on stage

[Waaarning! The photos are of low quality for having been taken with a simple film camera and scanned with a very basic scanner. Aaadvice 😉 Mouse on photo reveals it’s topic. Have fun!] Zaragoza, Spain, 2003. It’s summer, and I am in love, in love with Augustas 😉 Since it is 3 months to go until I will see him again, I think of expressing my love to him in different ways. I know his fascination for my legs, thus I get the idea of making a shoe shooting. I carry along all my shoes, and then me and my Lithuanian friend Jovita start experimenting. We aim to express...

Fertile boots in Berlin

It is one of these fairy-tale Berlin afternoons, which smell like new discoveries. I pass by a place, which I consider remarkably beautiful. It is called AUSLAND (Foreign lands). Formerly abandoned, it was resurrected by alternative people eager to live in a community. They bought it, renovated the house from scratch, and decorate this beauty regularly anew with interesting art installations. This time I am pretty surprised. An arrangement of antique moss-covered boots strung together in one line, out of which sprout happy green grass leaves. Right in front of the boots a bench...
